Home Churches – Anchors of Accountability

“Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:4 NIV)

Small group anchors of accountability and support…One person once said a Fellowship home church is like traveling to Denver. One can fly or drive, but experiencing a Fellowship home church is like walking or taking a wagon train to Denver. You may not get there quickly, but as you do, you will have gained something far greater…a Spiritual family.

The true meaning of fellowship demands a special form to accomplish its true function. That form is the Home Church. A home church is like a spiritual family. Hopefully a more healthy functional family than what most of are accustomed to—the way that God intended the family to be.

When the local church is smaller or divided up into smaller groups (about the size of a group that can meet in a home), then the New Testament’s “One Another” commands–to be devoted to, to be like-minded with, to accept, to admonish, to serve, to forbear, to forgive, to teach, to be subject to, to not lie to, to comfort, to pray for and to confess sins to one another–make better sense.
